Joo-Hyun

Joo Hyun is a self-taught artist who has dedicated over 30 years to painting. Living with a hearing disability, she turned to the visual arts as a lifelong means of expression. Her early works focused on traditional Korean painting, marked by a contemplative tone and refined brushwork. In recent years, she has embraced Western painting—bringing a unique energy and deeply personal language to her evolving visual style.

Her works are distinctively individualistic, shaped not by formal institutions but through decades of practice, observation, and intuitive exploration. This artistic journey has yielded a style that defies convention, often blending elements of realism, abstraction, and emotive color use.

She is a frequent award recipient in domestic art competitions and currently works as a professional artist with Realgain, a creative platform supporting artists with disabilities.
