Park-Inhee

Park Inhee is a Korean artist recognized as a pioneer of ceramic painting (ceramic art) and color Korean painting (chaesaek-hangukhwa). Her work merges traditional Korean aesthetics with the physical demands and expressive potential of ceramics, firing painted porcelain at over 1,200°C.

Born in Mokpo, Park began drawing at an early age and trained under master Heo Geon, a renowned figure in traditional Korean ink painting. Though her foundation was in ink landscapes, she later explored Western painting and watercolor in college, eventually developing a unique hybrid technique combining tradition and innovation.

Since then, Park has become a leading figure in ceramic art, painting directly on porcelain and pioneering its artistic use long before it became widely recognized. Her dedication to firing color through heat—a physically and technically demanding process—has brought her both professional acclaim and public admiration.

She is also credited with introducing modern color Korean painting using mixed pigments and powdered materials over 20 years ago, a technique that has since become mainstream.

Park has held numerous exhibitions, including the Busan International Art Fair, the Korea-China-Japan Art Exchange, and the Disability Art Fairs. She continues to challenge convention and deepen her practice with bold creative pursuits.

박인희는 채색한국화와 세라믹아트 분야에서 개척자적인 위치를 지닌 한국화가입니다.
전통적인 한국화의 미감을 바탕으로, 도자기에 직접 그림을 그려 1,200도 이상의 고온에서 구워내는 회화 작업을 통해
조형성과 실험성을 동시에 갖춘 독자적인 예술세계를 확립해왔습니다.

목포 출신의 박 작가는 어릴 적부터 뛰어난 손재주를 보이며 그림에 몰두하였고,
한국화의 거장 남농 허건 선생 문하에서 한국화의 기초를 다졌습니다.
이후 대학 입학 후 서양화와 수채화의 표현력에 매료되어 다양한 기법을 익혔고,
결국 전통과 현대를 융합한 세라믹 회화라는 독특한 장르를 개척하게 되었습니다.

세라믹아트는 원하는 색이 고온에서 그대로 발색되기 어려운 까다로운 과정이지만,
박 작가는 이 장르의 초기 시도자로서 지금은 전문성과 대중적 인지도 모두를 갖춘 작가로 자리매김하고 있습니다.

또한, 20여 년 전부터 채색한국화에 혼합재료와 분채를 활용한 현대적 기법을 시도하며
한국화의 단점을 보완하고 현대적 변화를 이끌어낸 주역이기도 합니다.

박 작가는 부산국제아트페어, 장애인 창작아트페어, 한중일 정기 교류전 등에서 활발히 작품을 발표해왔으며,
앞으로도 새로운 표현을 향한 도전과 전통 화풍의 깊이를 지키는 작업을 병행하고자 합니다.
