‘4인 4색 꿈을잇다展’: 4 Colors, 4 Dreams

From April 24 to 27, 2024, the exhibition “4 Colors, 4 Dreams” was held at the I-eum Center in Seoul, hosted by the Cooperative for Human Rights and Arts. The show featured four deaf women artists—Park Dayoung (Western painting), Shin Seonyoung (Western painting), Lee Myunghui (quilting), and Park Ilbae (crafts)—each presenting unique artistic perspectives on silence, resilience, and identity.

Park Dayoung’s paintings draw on spiritual imagery, such as underwater whales, to symbolize communication beyond sound. She emphasizes that despite the lack of interpretation or spoken language, she continues her artistic practice with conviction.Shin Seonyoung’s work blends collage techniques with natural forms to represent her attempt to see the world through transparent barriers—visualizing a sense of longing, life, and connection.

The exhibition highlighted the intersection of disability, gender, and artistic expression, offering a rare space where silence became a medium of voice.

인권과문화예술 사회적협동조합은 2024년 4월 24일부터 27일까지 서울 이음센터에서 ‘4인 4색 여성작가 꿈을잇다展’을 개최하였다. 이 전시는 청각장애를 지닌 여성작가 4인—박다영(서양화), 신선영(서양화), 이명휘(퀼트), 박일배(공예)—이 참여하여, 각자의 방식으로 예술을 통한 소통을 시도했다.

박다영 작가는 “들리지 않는 바닷속 고래와 대화”를 주요 모티브로 삼으며, 성경적 상상력과 시적인 감각을 담은 회화를 통해 ‘마음으로 듣는 소리’를 표현하고자 한다.신선영 작가는 콜라주 기법과 자연 소재를 활용해 ‘창을 통해 세상을 본다’는 주제로 창작을 이어가고 있으며, 꽃과 생명의 감각을 회화적으로 구현하고 있다.

이번 전시는 청각장애, 여성, 소통의 장벽이라는 3중적 제약 속에서도 꿋꿋이 작업을 이어온 작가들의 예술적 자립성과 연대의 가능성을 보여주었다.
