Park Yangsoo 박양수 : First Solo Exhibition in 2017

In June 2017, Park Yangsoo held his first solo exhibition at the Mokpo Culture and Arts Center, showcasing over 30 works under the theme of birds in nature, including owls, parrots, and hawks. Despite having a level 2 hearing disability, Park had long been recognized for his delicate brushwork and lifelike depictions rooted in traditional Korean painting.

Starting his formal training in 1991 under masters of Korean and Chinese ink painting, Park continued to build his skills steadily over decades. His solo debut in his mid-50s was a testament to his persistence, featuring vibrant and meditative depictions of birds that reveal a deep connection with nature.

This milestone exhibition marked a major turning point in his artistic career and introduced the broader public to his quiet yet powerful visual storytelling.

2017년 6월, 박양수 작가는 목포문화예술회관에서 생애 첫 개인전을 열었습니다. 매, 부엉이, 앵무새 등 새를 주제로 한 30여 점의 작품이 전시되었으며, 자연 속 새들의 섬세하고 사실적인 묘사로 많은 주목을 받았습니다.

1991년부터 한국과 중국의 전통 회화 기법을 사사받은 박 작가는 청각장애 2급을 가지고 있지만 탁월한 집중력과 꾸준한 노력으로 작품 세계를 다져왔습니다. 50대 중반에 이뤄낸 첫 개인전은 예술가로서의 전환점을 보여주는 계기가 되었으며, 오랜 시간 자신만의 화풍을 갈고닦은 결과물이기도 합니다.

이 전시를 계기로 박양수 작가는 정적인 자연의 감성을 따뜻한 시선으로 풀어내는 작가로서의 존재감을 더욱 확고히 다졌습니다.
