Park-Yangsoo

Park Yangsoo is a Korean traditional painter (Oriental painter) who has built his practice upon a deep foundation of classical ink landscape painting. For Park, landscape is the essence of Korean painting, and ink is its very soul.

Born in Mokpo, he began his career in 1991 and steadily built recognition through various national art competitions. Despite having a second-degree hearing impairment, Park has been praised for his calm focus and intricate brushwork, earning distinction in both Korean and Chinese traditional painting circles.

In his 50s, Park finally held his first solo exhibition, presenting over 30 works themed on birds, plum blossoms, and the natural beauty of Korea. Later in Seoul, his solo show featured pieces such as “Autumn Love” and “Bamsagol, Jirisan,” demonstrating a poetic approach to nature.

He graduated from the Department of Korean Painting at Wonkwang University and completed a master's program at the same institution. A dedicated member of the Korea Fine Arts Association, Park continues to pursue both tradition and artistic innovation in his work.

박양수는 한국 전통 회화를 기반으로 활동해온 한국화 작가입니다.
그는 “산수는 한국화의 기본이며, 먹은 산수의 본질이다”라는 철학을 바탕으로
묵직하고 정직한 화면 속에 자연의 본질과 아름다움을 담아내고 있습니다.

목포 출생으로 1991년부터 국내 여러 공모전과 대전을 통해 입선 및 수상하며
실력을 인정받아 왔으며, 청각장애 2급의 어려움 속에서도 뛰어난 집중력과 섬세한 묘사력으로
한국화와 중국화단에서도 주목을 받아왔습니다.

50대 중반이 되어 첫 개인전을 개최한 그는, 매화·부엉이·새 등을 주제로
30여 점의 작품을 선보이며 대중의 큰 호응을 받았습니다.
이후 서울 경인미술관에서 열린 개인전에서는 「가을 사랑」, 「지리산 뱀사골」 등
산수 중심의 작품들을 선보이며 서정적이고 원칙 있는 작품세계를 보여주었습니다.

박 작가는 원광대학교 한국화과 및 동 대학원을 졸업하였으며,
현재 한국미술인회 회원으로 활동 중이며, 한국화의 전통을 지키고
원 미술의 발전을 위해 꾸준히 노력하고 있습니다.
